Walking specialist Inntravel has added a new self-guided holiday, set in the little-known Aravis mountain range, to its French programme of hotel-to-hotel walking breaks.
The itinerary takes walkers through the Aravis mountains, an unspoiled corner of the Savoie Alps, beginning in the traditional village of La Clusaz and finishing in Annecy, known as the ‘Venice of the Alps’.
At the end of the trip, a boat takes walkers along Lake Annecy, a glacial lake and one of the purest in Europe, to the town of the same name, where guests spend two nights.
The holiday is accessible by Eurostar and TGV. The itinerary is Inntravel’s first in France for several years and the operator said it is a reflection of the increased demand for holidays by rail and a renewed enthusiasm for France.
The ‘French Alps & Lake Annecy’ itinerary costs from £1,650 per person for seven nights in three- and four-star hotels, including breakfast, some dinners, luggage transportation, route notes, maps and GPS navigation.
