Jet2 reportedly set to relaunch flights to Egypt

Jet2 is reportedly planning to launch flights to two Red Sea destinations in Egypt in 2027.

Reports in the Egyptian press say Jet2 will operate up to 14 weekly direct flights from the UK to Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada, from February 2027.

According to the Egyptian Cabinet Presidency, there will be seven weekly flights to each destination.

It said Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada will be served by two flights a week each from Birmingham, Manchester and London Stansted. There will also be a weekly flight to Sharm from Edinburgh and a weekly flight to Hurghada from Glasgow.

Reports say Jet2 CEO Steve Heapy and Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy met at World Travel Market London earlier this month to discuss the flights.

The Minister reportedly described the new flights as a significant step towards boosting British tourism to Egypt and reinforcing confidence in the country as a year-round destination.

Details have also been published on Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Archives Facebook page.

Jet2 has operated flights to Egypt before, but pulled its programme to Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada in 2011.

Jet2 hasn’t responded to Travel Gossip’s request for a comment.
